This wasn’t actually the first time I’ve put together a vision board. It was, however, the first time I really thought through each image and word I chose to display. I had and continue to have conversations with myself about why some of these dreams are important to me - do I believe I can really achieve them, and how would my life change if I did (or didn’t) achieve them?
A few friends heard about our project and were excited to know more about it. Naturally this brought up the discussion about their dreams and goals and brought up many differing opinions. Comments ranged from, “I want to make a vision board” to “I’m not sure what dreams and goals I have.”
It made me think long and hard about the whole process - reflecting on when I was a child and how many dreams and goals I had. As time goes on, as it does for all of us, it seems like many people either forget about their dreams or give up on them all together. Of course I had to ask myself, why? What is it about the “every-day-ness” of life that causes us to forget, ignore or give up on our dreams? Do we think it will never happen? Is it just too late? Are they just “silly” dreams anyway - that I don’t have time for, I don’t have the money for,, or I’m afraid to even hope for? The list goes on and on.
Well, I had fun creating my vision board and dreaming the things I’d forgotten and perhaps, at some level, have also given up on. The board, for me, is a reminder that no matter our age, we can all still dream and, I believe, if we are truly intentional with how we spend our time, we can achieve anything. We can’t just want it bad enough. We have to make the tough choices in life and yes, even and especially, sacrifices to bring those things to fruition.
This is My Vision Board Above!
If you’re curious to know what it all means, please give me a call - let’s have a cup of tea or go for a walk. I’d love to share my dreams with you. More important than that, I’d love to hear your dreams and goals. And, if you’re really up for it, let’s help each other achieve them!
May all your dreams come true!
