The Contra Costa Fruit Rescue is hosting a community fruit harvest event in the Danville and San Ramon areas. This initiative aims to collect surplus backyard fruit and donate it to local soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and food banks, ensuring that fresh produce reaches those in need.
Event Details:
What to Expect:
Volunteers will meet at a central location in Danville and then proceed to various homes in the area to harvest excess fruit. The harvested produce will be packed into crates and transported to local food distribution centers. Each harvest typically involves visiting 3-4 homes and lasts about 3 hours, covering no more than 25 miles from the starting point.
Volunteer Guidelines:
Registration:
All participants must register in advance, as each harvest can accommodate a limited number of volunteers. Registration ensures that volunteers are covered under the organization's insurance policy and have accepted the terms of the Release of Liability Agreement. Children aged 6 and above are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
