Live Like a Champion | September 2021

Dear Friends,

Have you ever felt like giving up? In my real estate career, I knocked on over 2,000 doors for nearly 2 years. For the first 4 or 5 months I, literally, thought I was going to throw up before knocking on those doors. I wrote down a few quotes to keep me inspired and motivated during that time. The quote that resonated most with me was from The G.O.A.T. himself, Muhammed Ali who said, “I hated every bit of training but I told myself, “Don’t quit!” Suffer now and live the rest of your life like a champion.” I remember when I discovered this quote. I couldn’t believe he thought that let alone said it out loud! I was SO inspired!!

A few weeks ago I got to share that story with his daughter, the incomparable, Laila Ali, a Champion in her own right. Laila was the guest speaker at the Side Forum, a fabulous real estate conference I was privileged to be a part of. I was without words. There were many, many, many days I felt all alone while knocking on those doors & to be able to share with Laila how her father’s words comforted, inspired and motivated me to keep going was, truly, priceless! I didn’t get a picture with her yet I was thrilled to be able to share that story with her! And when I was sharing the quote with her, she started repeating it with me. It was amazing!

So, whatever you’re going through, no matter how painstaking the task may be, persevere, stay gritty, “Don’t quit! Suffer now and live the rest of your life like a champion.” And remember, most people are enamored by the glory yet they aren’t willing to do the mundane work to get there.
